TRIMESTER
It is very important to incorporate proper nutrients during pregnancy. Folic acid, Iron and Vitamin B6 are the most important nutrients during the first trimester.

FOLIC ACID: Protects the baby from neural tube disorder such as spina bifida.

IRON: Plays an important role in making healthy red blood cells that carry oxygen around the body.

VITAMIN B6: Helps in easing nausea and morning sickness that many women face during the first trimester.

TRIMESTER
During the second trimester pregnant women should incorporate lots of Calcium, Vitamin D and Omega 3 rich food in their diet.

CALCIUM: Helps in growing healthy bones.

OMEGA 3: Plays a vital role in baby's Brain development.

BETACAROTENE: Helps in giving healthy blood and skin.

Nutrients such as Iron, folic acid should also be consumed as it lowers the risk of health issues such as anaemia, high blood pressure, diabetes.

TRIMESTER
In the third trimester baby's growth speeds up tremendously. Women often feel out of energy as the baby weight increases. Food rich in Iron, Vitamin K should be included in the diet.

IRON: Foods such as spinach, jowl, moong dal should be eaten as it helps to fight diseases such as Anaemia. As this disease can lead to premature labour.

VITAMIN K: Helps the blood to clot, which is very important after the childbirth. Vitamin k rich food also helps the body to stay energetic.

Food And Beverages To Be Avoided During Pregnancy
RAW EGGS
Consumption of raw eggs should be avoided during pregnancy as it can be a host to a bacteria called salmonella which can cause diarrhoea, nausea and food poisoning.
MSG(Monosodium Glutamate)
The use of additives such as MSG should be avoided during pregnancy as it can cause certain health issues. it can even cause numbness, chest pain and vomiting. Msg does not have any unique flavour it is used as a flavour enhancer in various dishes.
CAFFEINE
Caffeine intake should be limited during pregnancy as excessive coffee intake leads to increased heart rate and blood pressure.
UNPASTEURIZED MILK
Unpasteurised milk, cheese should not be consumed as it contains bacteria like Listeria which can give rise to food borne illnesses.
ALCOHOL
As per the Indian culture it is advised that alcohol consumption should be avoided during pregnancy as it can cause structural defects in the baby such as abnormal facial features.
RAW SPROUTS
Raw sprouts should be avoided during pregnancy as they generally flourish in humid and warm conditions which can lead to the growth of bacteria like Salmonella.
