SHAKARKANDI CHAAT(sweet potato)

Shakarkandi chaat is a very popular snack in Punjab. Sweet potatoes are considered an excellent source of fibre, vitamins and minerals. In North India pregnant women are encouraged to add shakarkandi to their diet as it is high in beta carotene, which plays a very important role in the fatal development. Sweet potatoes help in reducing the blood sugar level and is considered gut friendly. This amazing evening snack can be enjoyed by adding more elements such as chickpeas, pomegranate, fresh homemade yoghurt, green chutney and imli chutney.

Ingredients:

  • sweet potatoes

  • pomegranate

  • chickpeas

  • mint chutney

  • imli chutney(tamarind)

  • salt

  • red chilli powder

  • onion

  • tomatoes

  • fresh coriander leaves

  • black pepper

  • chaat masala

  • lime juice

Method Of Preparing:

  1. Firstly, chop the sweet potatoes and marinate it with oil and spices. preheat the oven and let the potatoes bake until crisp.

  2. Once the potatoes are done, add the chopped onions, pomegranate, chickpeas in a bowl.

  3. Add onions, tomatoes, spices. Then add yoghurt as per need and pour in some mint and tamarind chutney.

  4. mix it well and squeeze some lemon juice.

  5. Garnish with some fresh coriander leaves and the Snack is ready!
